FAQs Regarding Our Summer Camps

FAQs Regarding Our Summer CampsFAQs Regarding Our Summer Camps

So...in case you didn't see on social media, I just had a baby! Andre and I are now parents to three incredible children ages four and under. We have been finding our feet slowly the last ten days, with the beautiful support of friends and family. We couldn't be more thankful.

In between backyard lunches (finally!) and diaper changes, we've been answering many phone calls and email inquiries regarding our summer camps beginning July 9th! There have been several reoccurring questions, so I thought I would address them in one blog post for easy reference.

If you have a question that I don't address below or about something I address below, please don't hesitate to call or email us! We would love to help you determine if we are the right fit for your child's needs, and if not, help you find it.

1) When does registration close for the Morning Intensive and Afternoon Flexible?

If you want to access the significant prepayment discount, full prepayment and registration must be submitted by June 1 at midnight.

Otherwise, final registrations must be submitted by June 24th at midnight.

2) When will I be billed for my prepayment?

Invoices and Welcome Packets will go out May 15th. If you do not receive one by then, please reach out to Kait at kait@redwoodliteracy.com or 312-813-5141.

3) Where are you located?

We just finalized our new space location and will be meeting at 7007 N Glenwood Ave, Chicago.

4) If I applied for a full ride scholarship, when will I hear if I received it?

All scholarship decisions will be made by May 15th and you will be notified then. If you applied and you do not hear from us by that date, please feel free to reach out!

5) I'm having trouble navigating the online registration process. Is there another way to register?

Yes! While we will be working on making this online process easier, we don't want that to stand in the way of you getting paperwork submitted and appointments scheduled. There is a new feature on our website where you can choose to register via phone for both individual sessions and the camps. Click on this option to schedule a 30-minute phone call on a Saturday or Sunday between now and June 24th and one of us will register you. If you don't see a time that works for you on our calendar, please email me to find an additional time.

6) When registering online, do I have to schedule one appointment at a time or can I schedule several at once?

We wouldn't do that to you! When you are in our scheduling interface (Acuity), click on your first desired appointment. A button will pop up that says "Reoccuring". Click on this and scroll down until you see "Choose Another Appointment". You can repeat this process as many times as you need to until you have picked all your desired times. Then click "Continue" to finish filling out the intake forms.

7) How will students be grouped? Will my child still receive individualized instruction in a small-group setting?

Two great questions. First, the students will be grouped by ability and appropriate age ranges. We will determine ability around certain skills through baseline assessments. For appropriate age range, we will not place a 1st grader and an 8th grader in the same group. However, you may have a 1st grader with a 3rd grader and a 4th grader with a 6th grader if their skill gaps are similar. Please reach out specifically with any further concerns about our grouping.

Every student will have an individual learning plan with individual learning goals created by the results of baseline assessments given the first week of instruction. 6-week goals will be mapped out around each skill and each student will follow their plan. They will receive one-to-one instruction every week and daily check-ins to make sure progress is being made on their individual goals.
