Any parent or teacher of a struggling reader knows the desire to spark a flame of interest in reading for their child. We often look to reward systems to motivate - get a prize, sticker charts, candy etc. While these types of incentives may work for a time, there is growing evidence for another way to build motivation in struggling readers.
